The travel industry is quite an incredibly fascinating breed. The progress and revolutions that we’ve made in long-distance travel is absolutely amazing. From cars, trains, buses, boats, and airplanes, we now have more methods of travel that once could be through possible. And, with so many different options for travel available, each one comes with its own unique set of rules, regulations, and characteristics. Car rides can be nice as you’re traveling in your own vehicle, so you can go at whatever pace you want. However, this is generally one of the lengthier options when it comes to traveling, and you also put all of that wear and tear on your own vehicle.

One of the most popular methods of transportation and travel is easily the use of airlines and airplanes. This is currently the fastest means of traveling that is available to the general public, and has only gotten better and better over the years. However, traveling by air comes with very strict and rigid rules that need to be followed. One such rule is that of luggage size that can be carried on a flight with you.

Every airline has certain size restrictions as to what luggage can and can’t be brought on a flight, and if your bags or suitcases don’t meet these regulations, you can end up paying quite a lot of money in fees for storing your bags. Only certain pieces of luggage can be carried on a flight with you, and the item we’re going to be look at now fits perfectly within said regulations. That item is the Travelpro Crew 10 Expandable Spinner Suiter.

Brand Overview

Travelpro was founded back in 1987, so they’re relatively new to the luggage and suitcase game when compared to many of its competitors. However, one neat aspect of Travelpro is that all of their products are geared towards those who travel by plane. The company prides itself on creating products that are not only incredibly durable, but also ones that are of the utmost quality. In fact, the company claims that they are the number one luggage choice among both flight crews and frequent travelers.

Product Features

Seeing as to how both Travelpro and the Crew 10 are geared towards airline use, just what kind of features does the Crew 10 manage to pack? There are quite a lot here, and they go as follows –

  • One of the most fascinating and exciting features comes in the form of something that Travelpro calls the Magnetron System. Essentially, Travelpro has created a dual wheel system that utilizes self-aligning magnets. As a result, the ball will constantly roll in a straight motion.
  • Handles on bags are great, except when they don’t feel good in your hand. This is an issue that occurs much more often than it should, so we’re thrilled to see that Travelpro has done something about it. The Crew 10’s handle features a contour grip that features tar touch points for maximum comfort when pulling your luggage behind you.
  • Another area of innovation comes with the Crew 10’s, Power Scope aluminum extension handle. This handle is here to help reduce the total amount of wobble and shakiness that often occurs when hauling a rolling suitcase. In addition to that, this extension handle multiple stops, including 38 and 42.5 inches.
  • When we move to the interior of the suitcase, we are met with both a full lid pocket area, as well as a deluxe suite. These two areas of the bag mean that you’ll be able to store a tremendous amount of clothes without worrying about them becoming wrinkled during your flight.

  • One of the most notable pros for the Travelpro Crew 10, is the fact that it meets airline regulations to count as a piece of carryon luggage. This can make or break a suitcase if you are someone who frequently travels by airline, so this is a superb feature to have. It may be a rather simple one, but it can save you heaps of money that you won’t have to shell out on luggage storage fees.
  • You know that Magnetron System we mentioned earlier? Whenever a new or innovate feature is incorporated into a product, there’s always a bit of concern as to whether or not it will perform as well as the company is claiming. Thankfully, that system seems to be very well implemented with the Crew 10. Not only do the wheels move straight, but they’ll able to go over virtually any surface without any difficulty, including carpet.
  • Additionally, the company’s specially contoured handle is another great upside to this package. It’s by far one of the most comfortable you are going to find on any suitcase on the market, and will prove to be an excellent addition when walking through long hallways at the airport.
  • Another big pro comes as a result of the suitcase’s durability. After even months and months of use, the Crew 10 holds up like a champ. Splitting zippers and broken wheels are things you won’t find here at all.

  • While the Crew 10 does fit most airline size regulations for carryon, that does come with a couple exceptions. If you plan on doing international travel or are on a shuttle flight, a number of owners have reported that the bag needed to be checked.
  • Something that relates to this is the actual weight of the bag. It’s quite bulky and beefy, and definitely won’t be the lightest thing to haul around if you have a lot of clothes and such packed into it. And, if you’re going on international flights where the weight of your bag is checked, this is another contributing factor when it will be required to get checked.
  • After reading through reviews on Amazon, we were able to find that a few owners of the Crew 10 reported that the suitcase had a tendency to tip over rather easily when you aren’t holding onto the handle. The majority of the reviews don’t mention this at all, so we’re guessing it’s something of a minor quality control issue.

Final Verdict

As a whole, the Travelpro Crew 10 is an incredibly solid choice for those that are frequent travelers on airlines. Although the bag will need to be checked on international and shuttle flights, you’ll be able to have this bag as a carryon item 9 times out of 10. The contoured handle is one of the comfiest we’ve ever seen, the Magnetron System works better than we could have imagined, and the bags durability will ensure for many years of solid use.

If you are someone who frequently travels internationally, you might want to consider your other options that are out there. The heavy nature is also a bit of a turn off, but that’s very well remedied by the comfortable handle and powerful wheels.

If you’ve been looking for a suitcase that you can use as a carry on item and has some of the best wheels and handle on the market, we think the Crew 10 will be a superb choice for you.
